Stereotactic Radiosurgery

The new stereotactic radiosurgery program will use Varian’s Optical Surface Monitoring System (OSMS), cones, and Eclipse Cone Planning treatment planning software. The OSMS system is a new technology that shines a pattern of geometric shapes on a patient to which stereoscopic cameras can render the patients outline. If the patient moves outside of a set tolerance, the machine will automatically shut off. This system comes with a 3 Degree of Freedom (DoF) head allowing us to adjust the pitch, yaw, roll, lateral, longitudinal, and vertical positioning of SRS patients with accuracy down to 0.2 millimeters.
